Regal BB Theme

Things here at artistic-me.com were pretty quiet during the month of March. As such, this new theme and the official release of Plazmic CDK 4.7 were the culprits behind my absence. One would think that making a ‘black and white’ theme would be relatively simple; although, that turned out to not be the case with this theme.

Nonetheless, here we have Regal, a retro inspired Bottom Zen theme that can also be considered as part two in my ‘Wallpaper Series’, the first being Damask. This theme features a darker color palette (i.e. black) accented with silver/grey elements. Regal is available for 81xx, 83xx, 88xx, 8900, 9000, 95xx, 9630 and 9700 series BlackBerry devices and can be found exclusively in the Shoppe for $5.55 each.

Similar to Damask, Regal features an ornate patterned background; the pattern being a project I designed a few weeks ago. Also like Damask, there are a hosts of theme highlights featured in Regal, such as the original custom curved metal docks featured in both the Home Screen and Lock Screen. These docks will remain whilst changing the Home Screen image. Another notable theme highlight includes an all new set of slick black icons, which contrast nicely against the silver docks. The overall black-grey-white color scheme is featured throughout the entire theme (e.g. dialog boxes, meters, menus, font colors etc.) and works really well with boldly colored and/or darker wallpapers. The 4 to 5 Home Screen icons are user customizable and scroll continuously. In addition, Regal is ‘wallpaper friendly’ (wherein in-device wallpaper changes will be reflected in the Home Screen, Application Screen and Lock Screen) for all devices except for the 95xx; wallpaper changes for the 95xx will only be reflected in the Home Screen.

As mentioned above, this theme is available for both the 89xx BlackBerry Curve and the 95xx BlackBerry Storm, thus making Regal the first 89xx and 95xx themes featured on artistic-me.com, YAY! The 89xx version of Regal is near identical to the 9000 Bold version of the theme; the only difference being the slightly larger screen size with the former device. Meanwhile, the 95xx version of Regal has been modified slightly to appease to the Storm’s new navigational functions, as seen in the preview images of Application Home Screens.

All in all, I am very please about how Regal turned out and can attest that it looks great in-device!
